Canada lifted the Bowl at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Sevens after beating Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda and the Cook Islands at Ibrox Stadium on Sunday.

Glasgow, SCO – Athletics (track and field) started today at the 2014 Commonwealth Games with the Canadian team recording a pair of top eight finishes, a new Commonwealth Games record, a new personal best and nine athletes qualifying to further rounds.

In a split decision, Manoj Kumar of India defeated Canadian Arthur Biyarslanov 2:1 in the round of 16. Manoj won the bout with 86 points to Biyarslanov's 85. Kumar is the defending Commonwealth Games Champion, winning gold in Delhi in 2010.

Paralympic swimmer Aurélie Rivard of Montreal had a huge swim this morning en route to the finals of the women’s 100m breaststroke SB9 class at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, improving her personal best time by nearly two seconds.

Jean-Marc Béland, competing in Glasgow in the 77kg weight category in weightlifting, was one of the last to lift within the snatch portion of the competition in group B. His first attempt was at 131kg which he lifted confidently.
