The Canadian para swimming trio of Aurélie Rivard, Katarina Roxon and Morgan Bird will leave Glasgow early Wednesday morning with en route to the Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships in Pasadena, California, bringing with them a bronze medal and loads of encouragement.

Competing in the 75kg group today in Glasgow, 2012 Olympian Marie-Eve Beauchemin-Nadeau was the 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medalist for Canada.

On her first fight at the Games:

“It’s a long way to come; I usually don’t get caught up in my emotions. But it is so good to get the first fight over with, the first fight is always a bit tense.”

On being a pioneer:

How’s your Commonwealth Games experience been overall?

Our goal coming in was to get a medal. And we had a really fun time in the ready room, just bonding, being a team, singing the national anthem when Ryan [Cochrane] was getting his medal, so that was pretty cool to be there together.
