GLASGOW, Scotland – Two Canadian butterflyers from Pont-Rouge, Que., will be swimming for medals tonight at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fresh off their bronze medal last night in the in the 4x100m freestyle relay, Victoria Poon (8th, 25.38), Michelle Williams (9th, 25.48), and Sandrine Mainville (10th, 25.62) all will return to the pool tonight in the 50m free semifinals. 

Busy lawn bowlers tally three wins, six losses on packed first day of competition

The Canadian men’s field hockey team lost their opening match of the 2014 Commonwealth games competition after an intense match against their perennial rivals New Zealand (3-1).

After clocking in at 1:48.98 and finding himself in a 3-way tie for the 8th and final place in the 200m finals, Cochrane along with Nick Grainger (ENG) and Ieuan Lloyd (WAL) were forced into a rare swim off.

Langley, BC's Dorothy Ludwig just squeezed into the shooting final of women's 10m air pistol today, in 8th place. As shooters do not carry over their preliminary scores of the final, it was a fresh start in the final and she finished the event in third place, earning the bronze medal.
