Two silver medals for Canada to open World Series diving circuit

BEIJING - Canada had a great start Friday on the FINA World Series diving circuit.

Olympic bronze medallists Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal and Roseline Filion of Laval, Que., took silver on women's 10-m synchro while Jennifer Abel of Laval and Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., were second on women's three-metre synchro.

On 10m synchro, world champions Ruolin Chen and Huixia Liu of China were the winners with 347.52 points. Benfeito and Filion followed at 307.56 and Mun Yee Leong and Pandelela Rinong Pam of Malaysia were third at 303.96.

"It was our first competition this season and we were glad to have a successful start," said Filion. "Meaghan was particularly strong with her individual dives."
