Smooth start for Canadian badminton team
The Canadian team had a smooth start in the Mixed Teams competition, easily winning against the Falkland Islands 5-0.
Each contingent of the Canadian team overwhelmed their respective opponents 2-0 without allowing many points.
Adrian Liu and Derrick Ng (men’s doubles) opened the proceedings, followed by Michelle Li (women’s singles), Andrew D’Souza (men singles), Alex Bruce and Phyllis Chan (women’s doubles), and finally Toby Ng and Rachel Honderich (mixed doubles).
The Canadian team plays their two remaining group matches tomorrow, against Wales in the morning (9:00am session) then Australia in the evening (7:00pm session). They are in good position to qualify for the 1/4 finals of the competition on Saturday.
