Emilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel win silver at diving World Cup

Émilie Heymans of St-Lambert, Que., and Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., capitalized on a great start in the final en route to the silver medal in the women’s three-metre synchro event on Saturday at the FINA World Cup diving competition.

He Zi and Wi Minxia of China took the gold at 345.30 followed by the Canadian pair at 321.90 and Tania Cagnotto and Francesca Dallape of Italy at 317.40. Heymans and Abel were only a point from the lead after their first dive and tied with the Chinese after the second round.

Canada ends the competition with three medals. On Wednesday, Roseline Filion of Laval and Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal earned the silver on women’s 10-metre synchro while Alexandre Despatie of Laval added a bronze on men’s three-metre.
