ATTENTION CANADA’S COACHES & ADMINSTRATORS - your participation is required for an important study examining the athlete perspective of safe and unsafe sport practices in Canada.

Researchers from the University of Ottawa are investigating the athlete perspective regarding the culture of high performance sport in Canada with specific attention to an environment that is (or is not) safe and free of harassment and abuse.  The study will help generate information regarding the preferred sporting culture in Canada, the mechanisms supporting a safe sport culture for everyone and the mechanisms requiring change to create an ideal environment for safe sport.

Your perspective regarding the culture of high performance sport in Canada is critical to help address safe and unsafe practices. To participate, you must be 18 years of age or older, currently active in competition with a Sport Canada recognized national sport organization, and English speaking. The study consists of a 30-60 minute semi-structured interview in English. Your participation is strictly voluntary. You may refuse to participate, refuse to answer any question, or withdraw from the study at any time without any negative consequence. You will not be identified by name and your responses will remain strictly confidential. All data is stored in a password protected electronic format. At the end of the study, you will receive executive summary of the findings.
