Athletics Canada adds 51 athletes to Team Canada

OTTAWA – (June 24, 2026) - Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) and Athletics Canada are proud to announce the athletes who will represent Team Canada in Athletics at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, taking place July 23 to August 2, 2026.

These athletes join the 12 para athletes announced to the team in April and para athlete Claire Norek who was added to the roster earlier this month.

The athletes named today feature 13 Commonwealth Games veterans, accounting for 8 Commonwealth Games medals. The team also features 25 Olympians, accounting for 21 Olympic medals.

"This full athletics team showcases the remarkable strength of Canadian sport,” said Kelly Laframboise, Director, Team Canada 2026. “With Olympic and Paralympic medallists, Commonwealth Games champions, and a new generation of athletes ready to make their mark, Team Canada will arrive in Glasgow with confidence, ambition, and tremendous depth. We look forward to seeing these athletes inspire Canadians and deliver outstanding performances on the Commonwealth stage."

The women’s team features Commonwealth Games veterans like World, Olympic, and Commonwealth Games champion Camryn Rogers, 2022 Commonwealth Games champion Sarah Mitton, 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jillian Weir, and distance running sisters Gabriela DeBues Stafford and Lucia Stafford.

Audrey Leduc, Brooke Overholt, Florence Caron, Frédérique Chiasson, Gabrielle Cole, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Hannah Blair, Isabella Goudros, Jennifer Elizarov,  Jinaye Shomachuk, Julia Tunks, Kate Current, Katelyn Stewart-Barnett, Lauren Gale, Maeliss Trapeau, Marguerite Lorenzo, Mariam Abdul-Rashid, Marie-Éloïse Leclair, Nicole McKenzie, Sade McCreath, Savannah Sutherland, Sienna MacDonald, Simone Plourde, and Tatiana Aholou will be making their Commonwealth debuts.

“My goal between Paris and L.A. is to make as many teams as I can, like the Commonwealth Games, among others,” Leduc said. “It’s going to be another great experience, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what these Games are like. I’m really excited.”

Making their Commonwealth Games return on the men’s side will be Canada’s most decorated male Olympian Andre De Grasse, as well as 4x100 metre relay teammates Aaron Brown and Brendon Rodney.

“Having all those guys, we're contenders. We're gold medalist contenders. So, I’m looking forward to that,” De Grasse said.

2014 Commonwealth Games champion and Olympic champion Damian Warner returns, as does Olympic champion Ethan Katzberg, World and Commonwealth Games champion Evan Dunfee, two-time Commonwealth Games medallist Mohammed Ahmed, and Rowan Hamilton.

“Being in a stadium with 30,000 people in it, competing is so different for us. It’s huge motivation and to be part of such a great team. It's going to be a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to it,” Dunfee said.

“The first one didn't turn out so well, so I'm hoping to leave this one with a medal,” Hamilton said. I’ll hopefully be a new dad by then, so I'm hoping that I can just bring metal home for my family.”

First-timers on the Commonwealth Games roster include reigning World indoor champion Christopher Morales Williams.

“I'm definitely planning to go to the Commonwealth Games to hopefully go out there and do what I did indoors and give whatever I’ve got and just have fun,” Morales Williams said.

Other Commonwealth Games rookies on the men’s roster include Aaron Ahl, Abdullahi Hassan, Austin Cole, David Moulongou, Duan Asemota, Eliezer Adjibi, Foster Malleck, Jean-Simon Desgagnés, Jerome Blake, Justin O’Toole, Justyn Knight, Kieran Lumb, and Max Davies.
