Commonwealth Games Canada Launches Innovative Online Fundraising Campaign

OTTAWA, October 14, 2009 – Today Commonwealth Games Canada (CGC) launched an exciting online component to its “Dream it in Delhi” fundraising campaign to help raise the money required to send approximately 250 Canadian athletes to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India from October 3 to 14, 2010.

Using software designed, created and hosted by Artez Interactive, the online “Dream it in Delhi” campaign allows fundraisers to supplement and enhance traditional, door-to-door fundraising methods.

The online system enables CGC supporters to execute their own personal campaign or event through the creation of a personalized fundraising page, complete with photo and video capabilities, e-mail deployment tools and social networking links. The system also provides donors with the option to make a one-time donation or a recurring monthly gift.

“Artez Interactive has an excellent reputation for assisting nonprofits in achieving their fundraising goals,” said Krista Benoit, Director of Corporate Development for CGC. “We are certain this powerful online initiative will engage and inspire the public to support Canadian athletes competing in the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games.”

In addition, CGC’s International Development Through Sport (IDS) unit will be making use of the Artez tools to develop its own online, multi-media fundraising campaign, starting in 2010. IDS will focus on generating funds to provide youth in Africa, the Caribbean and beyond with opportunities to play and develop as athletes, including educational opportunities and life-saving messages addressing HIV/AIDS.

“We are very excited to work with CGC to design and execute their first ever online fundraising campaign,” said Mike Prentice, Director of Client Development and Fundraising, Artez Interactive. “CGC’s use of the Artez Solution will empower people to engage their own social networks in order to build support for this important cause.”
