Board of Directors: Suzanne Dill

EX-OFFICIO
CGF ATHLETE REPRESENTATIVE

Born and raised in Victoria, B.C., Suzanne credits her parents with introducing her to a variety of different sports and activities. She openly acknowledges that their encouragement and ongoing support is what helped foster a passion for sport, and praises her two younger brothers for helping maintain her competitive spirit.

Background in Sport

Suzanne was a national level athlete in not one, but two sports. She became a member of the Canadian National Swim Team (1991-1996), at age 14, and placed fifth in the 200m backstroke at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, BC.

While Suzanne’s retirement from competitive swimming in 1996 closed the door on the first part of her athletic career, the second was only just beginning. For years, she longed to enter a triathlon, but it wasn’t until March 2002 when Suzanne decided to enter the UBC Sprint Triathlon, that it actually happened. Upon finishing the race, it only reaffirmed what she already knew - the triathlon was her new found passion.

Never one to give less than 110% effort, Suzanne spent many hours training beside Canada’s elite to eventually become one of our nation’s best triathletes. Her proudest moment was placing 3rd at the 2004 Pan American Championships in Acapulco, Mexico.

After being sidelined with an injury for 8 months, Suzanne quickly rebounded back to represent Canada at the XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. She finished 12th, and showed a remarkable recovery from a serious injury.

Suzanne has since retired from competitive sport but stays connected to the national scene through her work with CGC, the CGF and the Board of Directors for AthletesCAN. Professionaly, Suzanne is the Head of Senior Athletics & Director of Aquatics at St. George’s School in Vancouver.
