Abel and Ware win silver medal in 3-meter synchro
Divers Jennifer Abel (Laval, QC) and Pamela Ware (Beloei, QC) captured the silver medal in 3-meter synchro at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree of England stepped on top of the podium with a score of 300.24. Abel and Ware (295.65) edged out the Australians, Maddison Keeney and Annabelle Smith, who finished third with 294.72 points.
"We are a little disappointed with our performance. Especially since it was going very well in training, and two weeks ago we came second in Shanghai with a much better score," said Abel.
"Its' not our placing that is disappointing, its' more the score and the way we dove. Personnally, I missed two of my dives," added Ware.
"We were a little bit nervous and it didn't go as we would have liked. Everything was complicated for us today. We can do much better than that. At least we never gave up, and we fought until the very end," concluded Abel.
The two Quebecois will have a chance to rebound in the 1-meter and 3-meter individual events, which get underway on Friday and Saturday in Edinburgh.
