Flash Quotes - Athletics Press Conference July 25th
Derek Drouin - high jump
On arriving in Glasgow: "Everything's going well; the Village is great. Everyone has been very receptive to us and very gracious. Things are shaping up and we're getting excited for the athletics competition to start. My goal is to win, but it's going to be a great competition and I'm excited to gain some more experience in major Games like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
On preparation: "There's usually something my coach has up his sleeve, but he doesn't reveal that to me until closer to the Games. So we'll see what he has to say."
Brianne Theisen-Eaton - heptathlon
"I’m feeling good, pretty confident, my training has been going well. I had a good heptathlon at the end of May and have been progressing in training ever since so I’m looking forward to it. [For preparation] I was in Europe, I did one in London, I did one in Belgium, to stay accustomed to the competition feeling and stay tuned up.
My goal is to win the gold. I wouldn’t be happy with anything except for the gold. Not so much looking for a point total because usually earlier in the year in May the goal was to score a bunch of points, this time it’s all about the gold medal."
Kimberly Hyacinthe - 200m
“It’s going really well, my training is going well. I want to reach the 200m final, as well as the 4x100m final. I’m trying not to be too intense, my competition only begins Wednesday. But I feel well-prepared.”
