OTTAWA, ON (June 2, 2026) – Cycling Canada and Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) are proud to announce the athletes selected to represent Canada in Track Cycling at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, taking place July 23 – August 2, 2026, at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
“Track cycling has long been one of Team Canada’s strongest and most exciting sports at the Commonwealth Games, and this group brings together proven experience, emerging talent, and tremendous momentum heading into Glasgow,” says Kelly Laframboise, Director, Team Canada 2026. “We’re proud to see these athletes represent Canada on one of the world’s biggest multi-sport stages and know they will inspire Canadians with the way they compete and support one another as a team.”
Rooted in nearly a century of tradition, the Commonwealth Games remains one of the most valuable multi-sport events, providing athletes with vital international race experience on their Olympic pathway. Track cycling first made its debut at the Commonwealth Games in 1934 and remains one of the longest standing sports in the program.
National Team Coach Franck Durivaux highlights, “The sprint squad will have the opportunity to showcase Team Canada in the Team Sprint, Sprint, and Keirin, competing against the best teams in the Commonwealth”
“Our endurance team will compete in three of the four races that make up the Olympic Omnium, Scratch Race, Elimination Race, and Points Race, as well as the Individual Pursuit,” says Laura Brown, National Team Coach. “We look forward to seeing them compete and continue representing Canada with pride.”
Canada last lined up at the 2022 Games in Birmingham, where our track squad delivered standout performances, including five medals across sprint and endurance events. This year’s roster includes three returning Commonwealth athletes, Maggie Coles-Lyster, Sarah Orban, and Tyler Rorke, joined by a competitive group of sprint and endurance riders coming off strong from Pan American Championships and Track World Cup performances this season.
“I’m really excited to be coming back to compete at the Commonwealth Games again. I have nothing but fond memories from the last Commonwealth Games, winning a medal in the scratch race. Glasgow is also a special place for me to compete, as I have a lot of family around who can come watch. With so many international competitions, it’s really special when you have a cheer squad of your family in the velodrome,” says Maggie Coles-Lyster. “My goals for these Games are definitely winning a (or multiple) gold medals in the bunch races. I’ve grown a lot as an athlete since the last Commonwealth Games. I’m now feeling the best I’ve ever felt in my career, and just really excited to represent Canada again.”
