Athletics Canada Athletes De Grasse, Brown, Blake and LePage Withdraw from Commonwealth Games

It is with disappointment that Commonwealth Sport Canada announces the withdrawals of Canadian sprinters Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown and Jerome Blake as well as decathlete  Pierce LePage from Canada’s team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

De Grasse, Brown, Blake recently won gold in the men's 4x100m relay at the World Athletics Championships in in Eugene, Oregon. Decathlete Pierce LePage won the silver medal at the Championships.

Athletics Canada provided the following statement:

These athletes have had a challenging World Championships in hot weather conditions and unfortunately must withdraw from the 2022 Commonwealth Games to properly recover and prepare for the rest of the season.
