Custio Clayton Wins First Bout in Glasgow

The ring at the Commonwealth Games was open tonight for Canada, and who better to lead the Maple Leaf team than Olympian 69kg Custio Clayton who unwrapped the gloves in Glasgow with a clear 3-0 win over Grenada boxer Jonathan Francois.
“I felt really good…NO, I felt great,” said 27 years old, Clayton from Dartmouth, NS.
Clayton got stronger as the bout went on and was able to connect with combinations that resulted in the win, said coach Kevin Howard.
Clayton next bout will be Monday July 28 against Carl Heild from the Bahamas who won his bout by TKO injury in the second round.
“I’m eager to get in the ring next Monday,” said Clayton.

Next boxer to take the ring for Canada will be it’s youngest member, 19 year old, 64kg Arthur Biyarslanov on Saturday afternoon against Musah Lawson from Ghana.
