Canada sends 15 through for second swims on Day 2 at Tollcross
Fresh off their bronze medal last night in the in the 4x100m freestyle relay, Victoria Poon (8th, 25.38), Michelle Williams (9th, 25.48), and Sandrine Mainville (10th, 25.62) all will return to the pool tonight in the 50m free semifinals.
In the men’s 100m breaststroke, Richard Funk (5th, 1:01.25) had a solid outing and earned a place in his semifinal.
Sinead Russell (3rd, 1:00.15), Brooklyn Snodgrass (5th, 1:00.70), and Hilary Caldwell (10th, 1:01.10) all qualified for the 100m backstroke semifinals and all have a chance to crack the top-8 tonight.
Competing in his first senior international meet, Luke Reilly (7th, 4:18.49) swam a great race and qualified for the 400 IM final.
Morgan Bird (4th, 1:10.65) will be looking for her first Commonwealth Games medal this evening in the women’s 100m free para sport S8 final.
The men’s 4 x 100m relay team (Kisil, Y; Allen, C; Wood, R; White, E ) hope to follow in the women’s team’s footsteps this evening as they advanced from the prelims with a time of 3:20.49, which ranks them 5th heading into the final.
Carrying over from yesterday's semifinals, both Katerine Savard and Audrey Lacroix will participate in the women's 100m fly final. Tera Van Beilen will also be aiming for a medal in the women's 50m breaststroke.
Tonight's evening session at Tollcross International Swimming Centre begins at 19:00 local time.
