Myles Spencer

DIRECTOR

Myles Spencer is a senior sport executive with over 15 years of experience in the Canadian amateur sport and not-for-profit industry.

Spencer is passionate about sport governance and administration.  For over 10 years, he has been closely involved with Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) and possesses an in-depth understanding of the organization’s governance and administrative structures.  His career in this sector has afforded him many great opportunities, experiences and relationships which will serve him well in his role at CSC.

Spencer began his sport management career working for Rugby Canada, where he spent over 11 years, including the last six as Chief Operating Officer.  Since 2019, he has been CEO of Rugby Ontario, the provincial sport governing body. He has been involved with numerous other provincial, national and multi-sport organizations in various committee, board and consulting capacities. Spencer presently serves as a Director on the Board of Ontario Sport Network, formerly known as Sport4Ontario, and chairs OSN’s Governance Committee. He is experienced in strategic planning, risk management, sports conduct, concussion management, and in securing government and external funding.

In his role with CSC, Spencer is particularly proud to be able to give back to the community and contribute to the movement of Commonwealth Sport in Canada.

Outside of sport, Spencer has worked for Canada’s premier national charity True Patriot Love Foundation, supporting Canadian military members, veterans and their families.

Spencer holds a Bachelor of Recreation Management from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, and also has completed a programme with the World Academy of Sport and the Canadian Olympic Committee's first-ever Emerging Leaders Program (2016).
