Canadian Commonwealth Coach Alumni Appointed High Performance Director
Badminton Canada and its High Performance Committee (HPC) is proud to announce the appointment of Ram Nayyar as our new High Performance Director, effective immediately.
Under the leadership of the HPC, the High Performance Director will be responsible for managing the implementation of all high performance policy and ensuring the effective coordination of all high performance services, programs, and development. This will include leadership of our National Team, Development Team, Coaching Staff, and new Integrated Sport Team (IST) programs.
“We are excited to have Ram take on this key leadership role with our high performance program. He brings a strong background in high performance coaching, leadership, and management, and we look forward to having him contribute these skills and attributes to this new position,” said Anil Kaul, High Performance Committee Chair. “The HPC has worked hard to establish the right leadership structure and support services, but just as important, we need to have the right people in place to make it successful—Ram will be one of these key people.”
Nayyar (Vancouver, BC), an NCCP Level 5 Badminton Coach, most recently served as Coach of the 2012 Canadian Olympic Badminton Team, highlighted by a fourth place finish by women’s doubles team of Michelle Li and Alex Bruce.
“I look forward to using the knowledge I have gained through the Canadian sport system, and particularly the performance modules within our sport agency partners, to better enable our athletes and coaches to achieve their goals as we move forward,” said Ram Nayyar.
The High Performance Committee looks forward to providing further updates on its progress in the coming weeks, including introduction of our new Integrated Sport Team (IST) program, National Coach program, and other initiatives, as we plan for Rio 2016.
