Commonwealth sport leader, Trevino Betty, joins TO2015 Games Athlete Council
Trevino Betty has dedicated his life to sport for the past 25 years as an athlete, volunteer and most recently as an administrator. Betty’s athletic career began as a member of Team Canada’s national track and field team from 1994 to 2000, where, at the Winnipeg 1999 Pan Am Games, he won a silver medal in the 4 x 100-metre relay, following up on his silver medal win in the same event at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Named Athlete of the Year in 1995 by the University of Western Ontario, Betty is also a four-time CIAU All-Canadian athlete. Over the past 10 years, he has been a member of three international bids and Toronto 2015 was his first successful attempt. As a volunteer, Betty has served on numerous local, provincial and national committees including Commonwealth Games Canada Board of Directors, Thames Valley School Board and AthletesCan.
