COMMONWEALTH SPORT CANADA AND RIGHT TO PLAY PARTNER IN SPORT & PLAY FOR THE 2026 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

January 21, 2025 - Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) and Right To Play are proud to announce a new partnership ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, uniting two organizations with a shared belief in the power of sport and play to drive positive change.

As part of this collaboration, members of Team Canada will proudly display the Right To Play logo on select non-competition apparel at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. This marks the first time the organization’s emblem will be featured in this way, highlighting the important role of sport in building more inclusive, equitable, and resilient communities around the world.

Right To Play, a global organization that protects, educates, and empowers children through the power of play, works in 13 countries to help children rise above adversity. Their programs use sport and play-based learning to promote gender equality, foster inclusion, and build essential life skills.

“Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and transform lives,” said Claire Carver-Dias, President, Commonwealth Sport Canada. “Partnering with Right To Play allows us to extend that spirit of the Commonwealth beyond competition—connecting our athletes’ passion for sport with a global movement that helps children reach their potential.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Commonwealth Sport Canada and honoured to see our logo represented by Team Canada,” said Susan Vardon, National Director, Right To Play Canada. “This partnership amplifies our shared belief that play and sport can be powerful tools for education, equality, and empowerment—values that resonate deeply across the Commonwealth.”

The partnership will also include storytelling initiatives as well as awareness and fundraising opportunities during the Games, helping to shine a spotlight on how sport and play transform lives—on and off the field of play. Activation of the partnership will include engaging Right To Play Ambassadors who are also Canadian Commonwealth Games athletes, alumni and leaders, including Erica Wiebe, Team Canada Chef de Mission for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 2, 2026, celebrating the spirit of friendship and competition among athletes from across the Commonwealth.
