Canada enters the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as one of the world's premier nations in 3×3 wheelchair basketball, with both the women's and men's teams expected to contend for medals when competition begins later this month.
Team Canada enjoyed tremendous success in Birmingham four years ago, with the women's team winning the inaugural Commonwealth Games gold medal and the men's team earning silver. Since then, the program has continued its rise on the international stage, sweeping both the women's and men's titles at the 2025 IWBF 3×3 Open World Championships.
Canada's women's squad includes returning Commonwealth Games gold medalists Kady Dandeneau (Pender Island, B.C.) and Élodie Tessier (Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Que.). They are joined by Puisand Lai (Toronto, Ont.), who was also part of Canada's world championship-winning team, and Rosie Long (Oakville, Ont.), who will make her Commonwealth Games debut.
The men’s team features Garrett Ostepchuk (Regina, Sask.) and Lee Melymick (Toronto, Ont.) who return after leading Canada to the 2025 IWBF 3×3 Open World Championship. They are joined by Reed De'Aeth (Sherwood Park, Alta.) and Kyrell Sopotyk (Aberdeen, Sask.) - both making their 3×3 debuts at the Commonwealth Games.
