Men’s 4x100m relay win World Championship bronze; Women’s 4x100m 6th

Moscow , August 18, 2013 – The men’s 4x100-metres relay team won bronze today at the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship in Moscow, Russia. The last day of competition also saw outstanding performances from the women’s 4x100-metres relay team placing sixth and setting a new Canadian Record. Nate Brannen of Cambridge, Ont., was tenth in the men’s 1500-metres final.

Dylan Armstrong wins World Championship bronze

Moscow, August 16, 2013 – Another day and another medal for Canada at the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship in Moscow, Russia. Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops, B.C., won bronze in the shot put with a seasonal best of 21.34-metres. Armstrong’s medal is Canada’s fourth in Moscow, tying Canada’s best all-time performance at the IAAF World Championships.

Drouin wins Bronze, Hughes 6th in new Canadian Record, Armstrong qualifies for SP final

Moscow, August 15, 2013 – What an amazing day for Team Canada at the 2013 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship in Moscow, Russia. Derek Drouin of Corunna, Ont., won bronze in the men’s high jump and set a Canadian Record of 2.38-metres while Matthew Hughes of Oshawa, Ont., placed sixth in the 3000-metres steeplechase final in a Canadian Record time of 8:11.64. Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops, B.C., qualified for tomorrow’s shot put final with a throw of 20.39-metres.

Brianne Theisen-Eaton wins World Championship heptathlon SILVER

Moscow, August 13, 2013 - Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Humboldt, Sask., won World Championship silver today with a personal best of 6530 points in the seven-event heptathlon. Her silver comes two days after teammate Damian Warner of London, Ont., won bronze in the decathlon, an event that was won by Brianne’s husband, Ashton Eaton of the United States.

Damian Warner wins decathlon bronze; Inaki Gomez 8th in 20km RW

Moscow, August 11, 2013 – Damian Warner of London, Ont., won bronze today at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championship. Warner finished the ten-event decathlon with a personal best score of 8512 points to earn the bronze medal, Canada’s first at this championship. Other Canadian highlights on day two of competition included Inaki Gomez of Vancouver, B.C., placing eight in the men’s 20-kilometre race walk with a seasonal best of 1:22:21. Nicole Sifuentes of Winnipeg, Man., and Kate Van Buskirk of Toronto, Ont., advanced to the semis of the women’s 1500-metres.
