Canada part of history as Commonwealth Championships bring water polo back to its birthplace

(OTTAWA, April 3, 2014) – Thirteen young Canadian athletes are travelling this week to the birthplace of water polo, Scotland, in order to take part in the 2014 Commonwealth Water Polo Championships held in Aberdeen from April 5-12, 2014.

Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard claims another podium finish

Montréal, March 22, 2014 – After winning a gold medal last Monday at the Pan-American Open in Montevideo, the judoka Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard once again climbed onto the podium, Saturday, this time at the Pan-American Open presented in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Today, the Canadian won a bronze medal in the under 57 kg class.

Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard climbs to the highest step of the podium

Montréal, March 17, 2014 — Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard claimed the gold medal in the under 57 kg category, Monday, on day 1 of the Judo Pan-American Open of Montevideo, presented in Uruguay. In the finals, Beauchemin-Pinard got the better of the Colombian Yadinys Amaris by an ippon. Alexis Morin-Martel was the other member of the Canadian contingent to make their way onto the podium, defeating his teammate Arthur Margelidon in one of the two bronze medal bouts in the under 73 kg category. Margelidon settled for a 5th place classification.
