Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) is the franchise holder for the Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth sport movement in Canada. CSC supports Canada’s athletes to achieve excellence at Olympic and Paralympic Games and world championships, enriches the lives of youth across the Commonwealth and hosts the Commonwealth Games.

Looking to make a world of difference at the “Games For Everyone”, the 22nd Commonwealth Games will be held from July 28 until August 8, 2022 in Birmingham, England. The twelve-day sporting and cultural event features 19 sports and 8 para-sports as part of its program with up to 4,500 athletes taking part. The Commonwealth Games are the only multi-sport event that feature equal standing for sport and para-sport events, and these 2022 Games will showcase the largest para-sport program ever. In addition, for the first time in its history, the Games feature more medal events for women (135) than men (133).

With 71 participating countries taking part in the Commonwealth Games as an integral step on the path to Olympic and Paralympic success, the 2022 Games offer a valuable opportunity for all Canadian athletes to Compete as One.

Position: Digital Marketing Manager

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Communications Lead, the Digital Marketing Manager contributes directly to the overall development of the marketing and communications plan and oversee the development, implementation and management of digital assets, programs and campaigns to market the Team Canada mission for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Digital Marketing Manager plays a major role in enhancing brand awareness digitally as well as optimizing marketing impact to meet organizational, program and campaign targets. As part of this role, the manager also oversees the work of the Social Media/Communications Coordinator for Team Canada and the Social Media Coordinator for CSC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing the Team Canada 2022 digital marketing strategy to increase brand presence and awareness
  • Developing, implementing, managing, and assessing integrated digital marketing and social strategies and tactics in compliance with appropriate brand attributes, style and tone
  • Overseeing, managing and measuring all websites, digital products, social, design, paid digital ads, motion graphics/videos, email marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and analytics
  • Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on organic website performance and digital marketing strategies and campaigns,
  • Coordinating reporting dashboards and analysis of all digital channels and the development of insights and trending to drive impact
  • Ensuring all digital marketing campaigns are analyzed and aligned to the KPI metrics outlined
  • Evolving and maintaining the CSC games-time website(s), and ensuring web structure, navigation, and content optimizes the efficiency and impact of the websites
  • Understanding UX design and best practices for optimizing websites for user experience, satisfaction, and conversion
  • Passionately staying up to date with digital marketing trends and potential new channels and strategies
  • Managing, and contributing to the mentorship and training of social media coordinators and student team members
  • Working closely with the communications team to ensure content and messaging is consistent across both the digital and traditional marketing channels and that it is repurposed and used effectively
  • Working with all key organization stakeholders to ensure digital needs are met as outlined per objectives and pre-defined agreements

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in marketing or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in digital execution, campaigns, content development and delivery
  • Proven experience developing social media strategies, overseeing social media execution and monitoring analytics to inform engagement
  • Technical web development skills to troubleshoot website errors and glitches
  • Proficiency with web publishing software
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing website, SEO/SEM, database marketing, email campaigns, social media and/or digital advertising campaigns
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Solid experience with website analytic tracking and reporting
  • Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and measurement
  • Knowledge of Canadian amateur sport and the Commonwealth Games is an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
     

Note: This contract falls over the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held from July 28 until August 8, 2022 in Birmingham, England. The role requires communications support during the Games as part of the Canadian home team and may require irregular hours.
